Green Certifications
Moulding & Millwork is committed to sustainable practices in all of our operations. To this end we have undertaken significant steps to achieve green product certifications with the foremost independant third party auditors.
Recycled Content Certification
The products produced at all three of Moulding & Millworks MDF mills have been certified to contain a Minimum 80% Pre-Consumer Recycled Wood Content (dry weight basis) under the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Environmental Certification Program.
Products certified with either pre-consumer or post-consumer recycled material can help meet the criteria for LEED MR 4.1 or MR 4.2.
Sustainable Forestry Practices Certifications
All Moulding & Millwork’s hardwood, softwood, and prefinished manufacturing facilities hold Chain of Custody certification in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for both Mixed Sources and Controlled Wood standards. FSC Controlled Wood specifies the following five origins must be avoided:
Unlike other forest certification programs, the FSC is the only certification program endorsed by the internationally recognized US and Canadian Green Building Council LEED® Green Building Ratings.
In addition to FSC certification, all Moulding & Millwork’s hardwood and soft wood mills are also certified to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) standards for Chain of Custody
PEFC is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification. With close to 30 endorsed national certification systems and more than 220 million hectares of certified forests, PEFC is the world's largest forest certification system.
To help ensure future generations of having sustainable forest resources, Moulding & Millwork is giving preference to raw materials harvested from well managed forests recognized by the FSC or PEFC standards. Our goal is to provide 100% of material from certified forests in all of our operations in North America.
